Crafting is in the family..
Sorry, I haven't been around here much recently. I have just had one illness after another. First I got a frozen shoulder in my good left arm which ended with having to have a steroid injection in it to give it the kick it needed to get on it's way.Thankfully I have a wonderful friend Vic who is training as a physio so she was able to give me exercises to do which helped loads as well which has meant that I haven't suffered too much recently with the stupid thing! Though it really put a stop to my crafting, which at this time of the year isn't the greatest. Just as I was starting to get back to some sort of normal last week I started to sound like a poor young lad who's voice was breaking, then I couldn't talk (which Ian seemed to think wasn't such a problem surprisingly!!) After ANOTHER trip to the Doctor I was diagnosed with viral Laryngitis. Grrrr..just starting to feel slightly normal now..well as close as I get anyway, so here I am to catch up with you all.
As I said I haven't been crafting much recently for one reason or another but I was very pleased to receive a lovely card from Ians seven year old nephew Adam which he drew himself and then his school printed them so they could be the family Christmas cards this year. I asked his permission to share it with you and he said it would be OK for you to see his creation which I think is just great..
I think he is expecting lots of lovely big presents from Santa under his Christmas Tree this year if his card is anything to go by!
I'm pleased to tell you that our new craft CD is now finished and will be released at the end of January 2011. Of course I will give you more info as we get closer to the time for release but..it has some great new additions to it and we are really excited for you to see it. Infact 2011 is going to start off very lively on the www.funkyhand.com website. In January we will be launching some great new products that I'll be back with more information about over the next couple of weeks before the beginning of the year. I'll be back before Christmas to wish you all the best for the season..now I'm off to have a nice cuppa and see if I can put the finishing touches to a new download collection for January.. see it's all go here!!
Oh, before I get back to work if you have a spare moment try and join in with this months challenge over on the Get Funky! challenge Blog as it's the last one where you will be able to win £20.00 to spend on Funky Hand products on our website as we are having a big old change around and shake up starting in 2011.

Wow..will this snow ever end?
I know I'm not the only person in the UK to be thinking this today..or infact for the last few weeks! We couldn't even get into Teapot Studios last week, but Corrina and I have fought through the snow this week to get here..it's been a fight every day though I can tell you.
Here's a couple of pictures I took this morning as I ventured out of the office building to the post room to see if we had any post..
This is outside of Teapot Studios main doors..and this is the view from there toward the post room..
That snow really is piled up practically above the windows!! You know what..when I got to the post room the postman had only just arrived and the post hadn't been sorted so I'll have to go back later. Doh!
Anyway with all the catching up we have had to do I haven't been anywhere near my crafty stash to be able to create anything, which is pretty sad. But..we have had a few exciting deliveries arrive this week of brand new Funky Hand products that I have been hinting about for a while. They will not be available to purchase until the New Year but I think I might give you a little sneaky peek of some of them in my next blog post.. see I'll just keep you guessing for a little while longer what a tease I am!
Well that's it from me today, keep safe and warm whatever you are upto and I'll speak to you again very soon.

December Get Funky Time!
It's that time again where we launch a new Get Funky Monthly challenge..but be warned..this will be the last month in this format as we are having a change around. It's all good and about time as Get Funky! is now one year old and nothing should stay the same for too long. I'll fill you in on more details in the New Year but for now lets get to this months challenge.
As I am a bad leader and I have been stranded away from Teapot studios for almost a week now with the bad snow we have here in Newcastle I haven't been able to make a card for this months challenge yet (shocking!) as soon as things get back to some normality here I'll get it made and on the blog, also I have been very disorganised so Kathy from my DT twinkled in like a fairy godmother and offered to let us join in with her sketch blog Kathys Waffle Sketch File this month. So, here is the sketch for you to have a go at..
For a bit of inspiration here is the wonderful creation that Kathy made using papers from the Colour Me Happy CD ROM.
Now you know the rules you just have to use at least one paper or extra on your creation from Funky Hand and you will be in with a chance of winning the £20.00 voucher to spend on my website www.funkyhand.com
I look forward to seeing your creations.

Birthdays galore in November!
I don't know what it is but there are loads of birthdays this month amongst my friends and family. I thought I'd share a couple of very simple cards I made for my cousin Jenny who had her birthday few days ago and her fiance Andy who has the honour of having the same birthday as me!
Jennys card was made with papers from my craft CD Rom Colour Me Happy and the flower is just two different sorts of Prima flowers layered on top of each other and attached with a fancy brad from my stash. I was really pleased with how the flower turned out so I kept the rest of the card very simple. I think that is a good way of showing off a complicated embelishment..less is more as they say!!
Now, mens card are never easy I find, and they are not my favourite card to try to make so, I decided to keep Andys card pretty simple as well just using the papers, also all taken from my craft CD Rom Colour Me Happy, to make the card and keeping the embellishments to a minimum..
I can't remember where I bought the Happy Birthday spongy topper sorry but I have a packet of them that have saved my life a few times making cards!! I just added a co ordinating button with a little button twine to finish it off.
I have to admit that my card making has taken a simple turn recently, with all the fab stuff we have been working on ready to be released in the New Year it meant that my card making has had to be quick! Now as everything is coming together and the pressure is starting to lift, slightly! I hope to be able to get myself around a few interesting blogs and get some new ideas for cards. I'm looking forward to it!
Before I go I want to just remind you that there is just a few more days left to join in with this months Get Funky! challenge and be in with a chance of winning £20.00 worth of vouchers to spend on www.funkyhand.com Next months challenge starts on 1st December and I'm the host..it will be a special month as it's the last of the year and I'll be telling you all about the exciting changes we are going to have starting in the New Year.
Anyway, enjoy your day whatever you are up to..and try and fit some crafting in if you can.

Papercraft Essentials Magazine..
We're all pretty excited here at Teapot Studios as we have a great Funky Hand paper and extra giveaway included in this months Papercraft Essentials Magazine Issue 61. What's even better is that Jane from the Funky Hand Design Team was kind enough to create some fab cards to be included in the magazine to inspire everyone to make wonderful Winter themed cards from the giveaway papers and extras.
Here are a couple of pictures of the cards that Jane created that are included in the magazine..
Jane has done us proud here at Funky Hand and I wanted to say a very big thank you to her for all her hard work not only putting the cards together but writing all the instructions and coming up with some great tips as well. Now there is no excuse for you not to get out to the shops and pick yourself up a copy of the magazine as you are going to get eight co ordinating Funky Hand papers, a matching Alphabet collection, two mini gift bags and a set of nine tags as well as a great mag filled with ideas for your card making. If you like this Winter Skating collection from the magazine you can find it, along with more papers to match on our Funky Hand original collection craft CD Funky Seasons.
If that is not enough excitement for one day! I'm also here to let you know that there is going to be a good reason to pop over to our website www.funkyhand.com this weekend as we are going to be making a few permanent changes to some prices of products over there. It will be a fine time to grab yourself some great bargains..but more of that here over the weekend.
One last thing before I leave you for today, please don't forget to pop over to the Funky Hand Design Team monthly challenge blog Get Funky! to take a look at this months challenge. There is still plenty of time before the end of the month to enter the Tag It challenge and be in with a chance of winning a £20.00 voucher to spend on the Funky Hand website.
Enjoy the rest of your day, I'm off to get back on with designs for the new Funky Hand craft CD ROM out in the new year. I'll speak to you again very soon.

Christmas Word Book time...
I hope you are having a great week, things are going 100 miles an hour here as we pull everything together for the exciting new releases in the new year. But less of work and more craft I say.
I promised you images earlier in the week of the second demonstration that I made on my last show on Create and Craft TV. Of course I couldn't not include a Wordbook in my demonstrations so, my second creation was a Christmas word book made with none Christmas papers. If you saw the show you will know I didn't really have time to show you how I created this card, if you didn't..well you can have a closer look at it as well this time!!
..and here's a closer look at the jingle end!!
This word book was created using the second Funky Hand Papercraft Factory craft CD release Colour Me Happy. I enjoyed making this wordbook as I decided to just keep to two of the colours in the collection and not mix up the papers like I nomally do for demos. The only time I included the other colours from the collection was when I printed off the JINGLE letters for the sentiment. But because I work hard to make sure that all the colours work together in each colour collection it still worked! The ribbon and the fab button were available on the show and Ideal World had been kind enough to send me some samples of them so I could include them in my demonstrations. I'm ashamed to say that I don't know who they are by but I'm sure a visit to the Create and Craft website www.createandcraft.tv will give you the info, if you want to know more.
Once again I just scored each letter page and then glued them together but you could use lots of different ways of attaching the word book pages together..punching holes and threading ribbons through, using your Bind it All machine, adding rings..the list can go on. The great thing about word books is that you can use them for whatever you like. They can be a straight forward card made special by using letters for a name or personal message or they can be a mini scrapbook where you can add pictures and journalling to remember a special time.
I have noticed recently that scrapbooking is very slowly growing in interest over here in the UK, of course it's been a very popular craft pass time in the US for years and digital scrapbooking was the thing that really got me interested in paper designing all those years ago. If you haven't tried scrapbooking yet and are a bit afraid of those 12 inch by 12 inch papers to start with a mini version using a word book could just be what you are looking for to give you a simple and small start! Both of my papercraft factory craft CDs Dreams Come True and Colour Me Happy contain word book generators where you choose the papers, letters and colour of the letters for each page. If you find it's not really for you then on those CDs you will find hundreds of papers, resizable digital stamps and letters to continue your card making with! Oh, but if word books do end up getting your creative juices flowing we do offer packs of wordbook envelopes in white and cream on our website www.funkyhand.com so there's no problem sending them out in the post.
Right I'd best get back to work or you wont get to see the new papercraft factory craft CD in the new year and all the other great craft stuff we have planned..just to let you in on a secret though..all the papers are finished!!
Speak to you again soon, enjoy your week.

Let's take a look at what she made...
It's a bit of a mad house here in Teapot studios at the moment. We are frantically getting ready with new products for release in the new year, all very exciting but also very time consuming. Hence the reason I'm here a week late with images of the cards that I made on my last Create and Craft TV show a week ago.. I'm sure you'll forgive me.
So without any more waffle here is a couple of images of the first demonstration that I did on the show..
and a closer view of the shaped Christmas tree..
This Christmas card was made using none Christmas themed paper from the first Funky Hand Papercraft Factory craft CD release Dreams Come True. If you didn't see the show, I decided that I wanted to show crafters that you can use papers that are not directly related to Christmas and still make fun Christmas cards.
This card is pretty simple, like most of my creations! With just three triangles cut from co ordinating papers from the same colour collection mounted to look like Christmas trees. I wanted to make it a little more interesting and folded the central tree in an none uniform way to give the card some depth. By only attatching the folded tree where the valley of the folds touched the cards it meant that you could flatten the tree and put it in a normal envelope and then when it was removed it would spring back with a little teasing!!
It's a great card to make with scraps of paper as well..which I know all us crafters keep 'just incase'..well a quick Christmas card like this one can be just what you were waiting for!
I'll be back soon with the other card I made on that show
Have a great day

Novembers Challenge on Get Funky!
November is here so that means a new challenge over on the Funky Hand Design Team challenge blog Get Funky! Congratulations to last months winner!
This month Lucy is in charge of setting the challenge and she's come up with a good one! This month we'd like to see you make a Tag with a Funky Hand paper or digi stamp. It can be any size you like for any occasion. So why not get a headstart on those tags for Christmas or have a nice rest from the Christmas crafting and make something for a completely different occasion..it's totally up to you!
I have made a tag which is pretty simple compared to the fantastic ones you will see from the other girls over on the Get Funky! Challenge blog but I enjoyed making it just the same!
The base of the tag has been cut out using a sizzix die using a paper from my craft CD ROM Dreams Come True printed onto card. I then added a doodled outline around the edge using a Sakura pen and added some great black and white spotted ribbon that I received from Create and Craft to use in my demos for the show over the weekend. I then dug out my Prima flowers, that have been hidden away for far too long and attached them to the tag with a couple of K&Co brads that I've had forever! As I said, simple but sometimes that can be just as effective. This tag will go on an upcoming family birthday pressie so it wont be wasted!!
So, get yourself over to the Get Funky Challenge Blog and join in with this months challenge, as usual there is a £20.00 voucher up for grabs to the lucky crafter that wins the challenge to spend on my website www.funkyhand.com.
I look forward to see what you create, speak again soon.

Christmas cards but not as we know them!
After such a great response to the Christmas cards made by the Funky Hand Design Team without using Christmas paper on my Create and Craft TV show yesterday I thought I would share a few images of them with you here today so you could get a closer look.. Take a bow Funky Hand Design Team members...
All these cards were created using papers from my craft CD ROMs Dreams Come True and Colour Me Happy and they include digital stamps from those CDs and digital stamp download collections available on www.funkyhand.com and the wonderful craft talent of my DT members of course!
If you are quick there is still 25% discount on all craft downloads on the website until Midnight tonight Sunday 31st October.
I hope you have a fun Halloween today and don't get too stuffed with sweeties if you are out trick or treating tonight!
Speak again very soon

It's just a weekend of bargains!
Hello again my crafty friends! There are two reasons that I'm talking to you today both of them pretty exciting, well to me anyway!!
The first is to let you know that I will be gracing your television screens once more on the Create and Craft TV channel (Sky 671, Freeview 36 & Freesat 813) on Saturday 30th October at 11am,and then repeated a couple of times over the weekend. I will be demonstrating my latest two craft CD ROMS from the Papercraft Factory range Dreams Come True and Colour Me Happy..but the big deal is that Create and Craft are going to have an AMAZING price offer if you buy both CD ROMS together. Lets just say, if you already have one of the CDs it might be worth buying the multi buy special and giving the other one to a crafty friend for Christmas..it's that good a deal and it's only available there on my show. Make sure you are watching at 11am on Saturday to see what I mean.
Another reason to watch is that my fab DT members have been working their little craft fingers to the bone making the most wonderful Christmas cards for the show. But Anice,..I hear you say.. Dreams Come True and Colour Me Happy are not Christmas themed craft CD ROMS..and you are right BUT, the DT girls have been able to prove that you can make the most fantastic Christmas cards with non Christmas themed papers..just having a look at them will be worth watching I promise!
Oh, and if what I read on Facebook today from Stephanie Weightman was right, if you order from the Create and Craft website www.createandcraft.tv this weekend it will only cost you £2.00 delivery..not a bad deal!
Right second reason for our chat today..
We are having a sale on the website www.funkyhand.com with 25% discount off all the craft download collections on the site from this afternoon (Friday 29th) until Midnight Sunday 31st. That's a weekend of download savings like Paper Blossom backing paper Download Collection normally £3.49 only £2.62 'Tis the Season Word Book Download Collection normally £4.89 for this weekend only £3.67..I think you will be getting the picture now!!
So this weekend grab yourself a bargain by buying the papercraft factory multibuy special on Create and Craft and get even more bargains with a download sale on our website.
Just a very quick reminder as well that we are nearing the end of October so that means you only have a couple more days to enter into the Get Funky challenge for this month. Remember there is a £20.00 voucher up for grabs so get your entries in before the new challenge is launched on the 1st November.
Right I have to be off now but I hope you can join me on Saturday for the TV show, it make's me feel less nervous if I know crafty friends are watching..even if I can't see you! Oh, email into the live show if you have any questions about the CDs or demos and I'll do my best to give a reasonable answer!!
Speak again soon.

Love is in the air....
Well, it certainly does seem to be in my family at the moment! Just a while ago I told you about my cousin Katie getting married well, now Jenny, her sister (and also my cousin!) has gone and got herself engaged to a lovely young man called Andy. Unfortunately Ian and I couldn't join them yesterday for their celebration party but as it was yesterday I thought I'd be safe to share the card I made for them..also I thought I'd show you the classy pressie I sent them as well!! Firstly here's the card, made with my own fair hands..
The papers are all from my craft CD Rom Colour Me Happy. The LOVE letters are Maya Road chip board letters that I've had in my stash for ages and I was so glad that I had the right letters left!
I covered each chipboard letter with a square of paper stuck on with good old pritt stick, left them to dry and then cut out the paper from behind using a sharp craft knife. You need to cut as close as you can to the edge of the letter but it still wont leave a perfect edge so that is where my trusty filing kit comes in. I gently filed the edges of all the letters to smooth them off and then inked the edges to grunge them up alittle but also cover the chipboard edges.
The fab ribbon was from my stash and I'm sorry I can't remember where it came from.. But I do know where the heart pin came from as it arrived the morning I was making the card right on time, from the fabby Ribbon Girl website. Just to finish off I thought just a little bling with four pink flat backed gems would be just enough!
I hope that Jenny and Andy had a great time last night and I know they will be very happy together as they are a wonderful couple. What did Ian and I buy them for a gift? I hear you ask.. well it was a pretty classy pressie..direct from Debenhams..
Yes..it's a cup cake shaped Teapot! If they don't like it I'll have it back no problem!!
It's coming up to the end of the month again so, you still have a bit of time to join in with the October Get Funky Challenge over on the Funky Hand Design Teams challenge Blog and have a chance of winning the £20.00 voucher prize so get crafting now and join in, we'd love to see you over there.
I will be gracing your Telly screens again on the Create and Craft channel at the end of the month and I'll be back with more information about that in the very near future. Just pop Saturday 30th October 11am in your diary now so you don't miss me messing up demos and forgetting what I'm selling like normal! Wink!
Speak to you all again very soon.

Charisma Cardz weekly challenge
It has been an age since I've had the opportunity to make a card to join in with a challenge blog..something before Funky Hand really took off I used to love to do, so..this week I decided that I was going to make sometime for some fun! I decided to join in with the Thursday challenge over on Charisma Cardz this week which is to get us in the Christmas mood and make a Christmas card. I have to say I am a bad Christmas card maker..I always leave it until the very last moment, but maybe this year I will make a better effort! Anyway here is my entry...
It's pretty simple card made with papers and a digi stamp from my latest download collection All I want for Xmas. I blinged up the tree a little with stick on pearls and added a few coloured gems as Christmas decorations.
Now get yourself over to Charisma Cardz blog and see all the great DT entries and everyone elses beautiful cards. I'm off for some blog hopping before I get back to the job of finishing off designing papers for my next CD and preparing other exciting business paperwork..yes I know it's Saturday, that's the joys of self employment it really IS full time!!
Oh, before I go don't forget about the Get Funky monthly challenge that was launched yesterday there's £20.00 worth of vouchers to spend on the Funky Hand website for the winner so get yourself over there!

It's time for the Get Funky October challenge
Can you believe another month has gone by? Congratulations to our winner of the September Get Funky Challenge blog competition.
This month we have Lythan to thank for our challenge. All you need to do is use five different Funky Hand papers on your card creation. You can make any sort of card that you like to meet this challenge so I decided to make a bit of a lovely dovey card for my other half Ian..but Ian isn't really a chap you send a pretty card to so, I set myself another challenge really to meet the Get Funky challenge requirements and make a mans card..I must be mad!!
I created this card using papers from my Shabby Saturday download collection which is available on my website www.funkyhand.com for just £3.49
I realised that the picture didn't really show you the sentiment that I'd added that clearly so here it is a little closer..
I've been experiencing a few problems with my MS and Epilepsy recently and Ian , as always, has been as solid as a rock whilst I try to sort out my medical problems. He's a complete star, when I'm a nightmare and I just want him to know that he is very important to me.
So, what's stopping you from joining in with Lythans challenge this month? Get over to Get Funky and join in there's a £20.00 voucher to win to spend on lovely Funky Hand products for the winner..it could be you!!

Friends bringing gifts..what more could you want?
Some of you may not know but I used to have a proper job, before I started Funky Hand ! Infact I've had a number of 'proper' jobs over the years! One of my favourite times was working in the centre of Newcastle in the late nineties for a recruitment agency as a consultant, recruiting permanent members of staff for various businesses around the area. I don't really remember it that fondly for the actual job but for the fantastic group of girls I worked with. We were friends much more than just work colleagues. Anyway, you know how things go, you leave, everyone moves on..you lose touch and before you know it, it's been years since you have seen them. I'm sure you can all understand and have experienced that in your lives.
Anyway, through the joy that is FaceBook I have got back in touch after about six years with my old Manager from those days Heather. On Friday she popped into Teapot Studios to see our little set up and catch up on what I'm actually up to. Heather is running her own marketing business called Marketing Geni now and as a little fun sideline she also makes cup cakes! Thankfully she brought a sample of them for me with her!!
It was so wonderful to meet up with an old friend and even though the years had gone by and so much had happened in those years to us both, it was just like we had seen each other yesterday! I know this post isn't about crafting today but I just wanted to share with you how pleased I was to see Heather again and how much it made me realise that true friends are always there for you, even if you don't see them everyday. So, this week think about someone who was special to you in the past and you haven't seen for ages and make the decision to get intouch with them again. I have to say I really think it's true that you can't have too many friends..expecially if they make really yummy sparkly cupcakes!!
I'm working on new paper designs for another CD release in the new year and Corrina and I are getting very excited about a number of other crafty projects that we have coming together at the moment. So, as usual, it's all go in Teapot Studios!
I hope your weekend has been great fun and I'll speak to you again very soon.
