I've sneaked in just a little crafting!

As you can probably imagine it's a mad house here at the moment as we try to get ready for Christmas and moving into Teapot Studios between Christmas and New Year.  My biggest problem at the moment is getting BT to get their backsides into gear and connect my telephone and broadband lines in the office..what fun I've been having!!
With all the mad rushing about getting presents delivered (we ordered everything on line this year..it was so much nicer than fighting the crowds in the shops I can tell you!) and sorting out everything for the office I have still been able to find a little time to craft.  I very small amount of time I have to admit.  I am ashamed to say it but..I had to buy my Christmas cards this year (Shocking!) I just haven't had the time to make them but I purchased cards from the MS society which of course is a charity close to my heart so that made me feel a little less guilty.

Anyway one of Ians nephews is unlucky enough to have a birthday two days after Christmas so he get lots of combined presents at Christmas that we have always thought wasn't fair so we always send him seperate gifts and two cards.  So unusually for this time of the year I got to make a birthday card as well as a Christmas one.

The birthday card has been made with papers and an image from my new CD Dreams Come True which isn't going to be released until January..keep your eyes peeled here for more details soon about the release date..just a little tease!! The Christmas card was made using a paper from my Christmas Word Book downloadable collection Blue Christmas and the topper is using an image from the Festive Fun digi stamp collection.

Well, I'd best get back to my HUGE list of things to do. Which I'm sure you all have as well. Before I go please don't forget that we still have a bit of time left before the end of the month for you to join in with this months challenge over on Get Funky!, Kath has set a great challenge to make a Xmas deco so please join in before the 31st if you can find time and have a chance to win a £20.00 voucher to spend on www.funkyhand.com in January..don't forget the new CD will be out!

The start of something new...

It's a pretty exciting and scary time here at Funky Hand Towers as we start to prepare to move Funky Hand from here into new premises. The big joke here calling the house Funky Hand Towers always came from the show 'Only Fools and Horses' where Del used to say to Rodney 'this time next year Rodney..we'll be millionaires' and they lived in Mandela Towers. Now these Towers are just too small to hold Funky Hand anymore..I told you a few posts back about our new offices..well we picked up the keys a few days ago of the freshly finished office and we will be working full time out of them beginning in the new year. Here's me waiting for my desk to be delivered..

and here's me taking the position I intend to have the majority of the time..I am the boss don't you know!!

It's a massive job trying to get everything sorted..and everything is so much harder as it's Christmas in a few weeks! But I can not wait to be sitting in my Studio,in Teapot Studios surrounded with all the wonderful media companies and other creative companies that work out of these offices, ready to start 2010.. it's going to be a big year I just know it!

The new CD Dreams Come True is now with the manufacturers and I will be back very soon to give you the release date and details of our live show on Create and Craft, where you will be able see the amazing things my fabby Design Team are creating with the new product. As usual they are out doing themselves with their wonderful creativity.

I have lots of other things to tell you about the move and what is planned for next year but I'm going to keep a few things back and tell you later! What a tease I am!

Before I go, I still have a BIG sale going on my website of all my craft CD-Roms, they are selling pretty fast and the sale ends at 9pm on Sunday 13th December so don't miss out on getting a bargain. Get over to www.funkyhand.com and grab yourself an early Christmas pressie!
Oh, and once you've got yourself some Funky Hand papers why not join in with this months challenge over at the Get Funky! Challenge blog..there's £20s worth of vouchers to spend on the website to be won.

It's Get Funky Challenge time again!

Heck..is it really December already? Well it must be as today is the launch of a new challenge over at Get Funky! This month Kath is in charge and she has set us all the task of creating Christmas decorations! I can confirm that I had a few attempts at this challenge before I created anything that I was willing to share with you or the other members of the Design Team!! But finally I created these funky stockings to hang either on your Christmas tree or, if you are lucky enough to have one, on your fire place.

I used the stocking images from my new Christmas Digi Stamp download Festive Fun, I increased their size and then paper pieced them with papers from another of my Christmas download collections Funky Little Christmas.

Now if you want to see some inspired crafting get yourself over to Get Funky and see what my wonderfully talented Design Team came up with for this challenge. If you can find the time please join in with us, we'd love to see your last minute Christmas creations..who knows you could be lucky and win the £20.00 Funky Hand voucher to spend on stash in the new year!

Oops I've been so busy getting everything else done that I have completely forgotten to tell you about my new download product available on my website www.funkyhand.com

If you haven't started your Christmas cards yet..like I haven't (!) my new Digital stamps Festive Fun might be just the thing you need to top off those last minute Christmas makes. They are great for colouring in or printing onto other backing papers to paper piece. You'll find the galley on the sales page. Funky Hand Towers is on the move..

I've been hinting for a while that I had things to tell you and I'm not very good at keeping secrets for very long so I thought I would tell you one of them...

I am moving into my first office! I am so excited I could burst, where I'll be based is a really cool collection of offices that are being developed in an old pottery forge just outside the centre of Newcastle. It is a really fabby community of media companies and designers so it will hopefully bring me lots of inspiration.(There is also a wonderful cafe based in the old clock tower on site which I imagine wont be so good for my figure!!) My office should be finished at the beginning of December and I'll be moving all the Funky Hand business stuff over there during the month and be working full time out of it from January. Woo hoo! I'm so excited that the business has grown so much that I can't work from home any longer. I know I have all my wonderful customers to thank for that and I want you to know I can't tell you how much I appreciate all your support over the last couple of years.

As I mentioned earlier the offices are being built in a wonderful old pottery forge building so they have the most amazing old brickwork interiors, when the bricks have been sand blasted back to their orginal condition they are the most beautiful browns, oranges and reds..you just don't get bricks like them these days. But even though the forge is old the designs of the offices are very high tech.. We visited the site a couple of months ago and took some photos of where our office is going to be..the big white arrow is pointing at my office window!

The development has moved on somewhat from this picture of course and as soon as I have my hands on the keys I will share the pictures of my all new Funky Hand Towers.

The new CD is taking a little longer to perfect than we had originally thought but if something is worth doing it's worth doing properly so I'll hopefully be back very soon with a release date and a time when you can have a good look at it on Create and Craft TV.

We do have a few new things in the pipeline to share with you very soon..my poor design gang girls are working away getting fabby images of cards they've made with the new product so I'll be back to share all the details with you very soon.

Well, I'd best get back to making cards with the new CD, it's word books today so I'd best get printing!

Another new Funky Hand DT member..

I am very pleased to introduce you to another wonderful crafter who has agreed to join our Funky Hand Design Team Gang, Kathy Black. You can see Kathys amazing work on her fab blog Kathys Waffle. I've been a big fan of Kathys work for years so I am very honoured that she has joined the team. Welcome Kathy!

With all this getting the new CD ready I have been very lax with doing much crafting at all. So, I thought I would share a card that I made for my Dads 60th birthday last week.

It's so difficult to get a decent picture at the moment here the light is really dim so please forgive the rather poor quality picture but at least it's a card!! I made it using papers from my new CD Dreams Come True which I will have more info about a release date very soon..I hope!

Don't forget to pop over to the Funky Hand DT challenge blog Get Funky! and join in with this months new challenge from Enfys. There's a £20.00 Funky Hand voucher to be won and as they say you have to be in it to win it!!

Well that's it from me today..I'll be back real soon.

It's time for a new Get Funky! Challenge

Congratulations to the winner of last months Halloween Challenge set by Allison on the Get Funky! Challenge Blog, thank you to everyone who joined in, we all enjoyed looking at your fab entries.

This months Get Funky! Challenge has been set by Enfys and the theme is Autumn Woodland So, lets see your Autumn colours and woodland themed craft creations this month to win the £20.00 voucher to spend on my website www.funkyhand.com

Here's my contribution this month...

I've used papers from our new craft CD 'Dreams Come True' which will be launched in the near future..I'll be back to let you know when very soon. I decided to keep the card pretty simply just cutting out a few leaves and a bit of doodling to finish off around the edge of the base card. The sentiment was created using my favourite rub on letters 'All Mixed up' by Doodlebug.

I'm looking forward to seeing your entries to the challenge and you need to pop over and take a look at all the fab creations from the Design Team, I dare you not to be inspired by them!

Roll up, Roll up for Funky Hand News..

What a whirlwind we have been in here at Funky Hand Towers this last week. Working on the finishing touches to the new CD seems to have taken up every minute of my time. I have to admit to working 12 hour shifts recently. Phew! No wonder I'm tired and also that's my excuse for not being here for a while.

Firstly I have some very sad news to share, Carol has left the Funky Hand Design Team Gang. We are all very sorry to see her go but as she is now a Stamping Up Demonstrator and they have just changed their terms about what activities their demos can undertake with other craft companies Carol had to say goodbye to us. We will all miss her loads but wish her every success with her Stamping Up business. I'll be back very soon to tell you all about some wonderful new crafters that will be joining our design gang. I'll keep that info to myself for just a little longer.

Whilst everything here has been focused on getting the new CD finished I completely forgot about my contribution to the free CD that is attached to the latest edition of Complete Card Making with your PC magazine available in all good shops now!

There are 32 papers and extras included on the free CD from my craft CD Funky Seasons so if you haven't tried any of my papers yet then why not give that mag a go..it's full of loads of really great card ideas and the CD has loads of other items included on it as well as the Funky Hand stuff so if you are into a bit of digital crafting it's definately the magazine for you.

Now today is 29th October so you still have a few days left to take advantage of the special 10% discount that I am offering just to my blog readers. Just use the code 10JUST4U when you check out on my website www.funkyhand.com to get the discount, but you've only got until the 31st so grab it now!

Another thing that is ending on 31st is our latest challenge at Get Funky! join in with Allisons Halloween challenge and you could be the winner of the £20.00 voucher prize. A new challenge will be launched on there on the 1st November which Enfys is hosting so remember to pop over and take a look at the great DT cards.

I'll be back with more info on the new CD, DT members and the mountain of other news that I have to share with you.. Speak again very soon

Well Fancy That!

It's been far too long since I last spoke to you but things are, as always, rather mad here at Funky Hand Towers at the moment.

We are still working away on getting the new CD release ready for launch. As I've said before I'm really excited about sharing more about it with you and you'll be the first to hear when the release date has been set. I promise it will have been worth waiting for..Ian has done a fantastic job with the new navigation and I just know you are going to love all the new functionality and little extras.

Even though we are really busy you do have to have a little bit of time off now and again so, to give you a little laugh I thought I would share some photos from a fancy dress party that Ian and I attended last weekend for a friends 40th birthday. The theme was heros and heroines. I went as my heroine Anne Boleyn and Ian as Captain Morgan (of the rum fame!!)

We attended the party with Ians parents who went back to their youth and dressed up as Mary Quant and Paul McCartney (from the Sarg Pepper Album cover)

and finally here's Ian and I with our friend Joanna, or should I say Queen Cleopatra..

We had great fun! I of course had to do a little bit of crafting to add to my outfit and attached to the pearls around my neck a small letter B like in the pictures you always see of Anne Boleyn. Well, after hand cutting it out of card I decided it needed a bit of glitter so I covered it with gold glitter and attached it to the necklace with craft wire. I have been finding gold glitter all over me ever since! It just never seems to wash off!!

Oh, and before I go don't forget to join in with this months Halloween challenge over at the Get Funky! Challenge Blog, don't miss out on your chance to win £20.00 to spend on my website www.funkyhand.com

It seems we actually have a day especially for our card making passion which is today 3rd October so, I thought I'd join in a little and give you a peek at a card I have made for my cousin Katies birthday that I've used papers from my next craft CD release that we are still working on getting ready for launch... want a little look? Well go on then..

These papers are from a collection called Free Romance from the new CD. I can't wait to be able to tell you all about it..but you'll have to wait for just a little while longer.

October Challenge on Get Funky!

I can't believe that another month has gone by since the last challenge on the Funky Hand Design Gang blog Get Funky! Where does the time go to?

We had some fabby entries again this month and I want to say a very big thank you to everyone who took the time to join in with us. I know all the Funky Hand Design Team loved visiting your blogs and seeing your fabby creations. There can only be one winner each month of course..to see who Ruth decided was the worthy winner for September pop over to Get Funky! While you are there you will also see this months new challenge for October.

Octobers challenge has been set by Allison and it's to make a Halloween card or project. You can make anything you like, all you need to remember is that there needs to be just one Funky Hand paper or extra included on your creation and you could be Octobers winner of a £20.00 voucher to spend on Funky Hand goodies on my website www.funkyhand.com.

Right, I suppose you want to see what I came up with for this 'spooky' challenge..

Now I'm terrified of spiders so I think that is why I decided to make my Halloween card with one on..if I met a spider that big I'd run a mile!! The card was great fun to make. I just printed out a paper from the Pumpkin Patch collection from my Now That's Funky CD onto white card and cut it to size to fit on the square card base. Then using my rather poor sewing abilities I sewed a bit of a random web onto the card. Luckily spiders webs don't have to be perfect..and this one certainly isn't.but I had more fun doing it than I have had for ages making a card! Once the web was finished..which I did whilst watching the TV..Ian was amazed that I was sewing anything he watched me rather than the TV!! (I think you might be getting the picture that I'm not too hot on the domestic, sewing, cooking sort of side of things !) I then added the spider which is just a large black bazzill button with two little stick on pearls for eyes and black stitching for his legs. I added the BOO! from the matching alphabet to the paper collection and then attached the whole thing to the white base card with foam pads. Of course everything had a good rub of black ink pad around the edges to give it that grubby, Halloween feel.

Well I hope you will be inspired to join in with us for this challenge over at Get Funky! and there are plenty of fab examples from the Design Team for you to have a look at..so go on Get Spooky! this month

A special Nana card..

I don't make cards for other people, for them to send, very often these days as I just don't have the time but of course there are always special people that I relax my refusals for and one of those people is my best friend Corrina. Her Mother celebrated her 60th birthday this week and I pulled together this card especially for Corrinas lush little ones Alana and Sam to send to their Nana on her special birthday..

I made it using the Positively Kiddies word book collection from my last craft CD Funky Word Books. Rather than creating a full word book I just made a two page book and added the first three letters to the front page and the second page had the final A on it.

The last few days we have been working really hard getting all the boring aspects of running a business up to date like accounts etc..so I'm looking forward to getting back to my designing for the new CD release and a new download collection or even two for October. Hope you are all having a great weekend. Oh, and remember there are only a few more days left to get your entries in for this months Get Funky! challenge don't let that £20.00 Funky Hand voucher prize slip through your fingers, get over there now and find out what you need to do to take part !!

I know, I know..I'm a bad blogger!

It's been far too long since I have been here..I've got lots of excuses why, but you know what, I'm not going to bore you with them ! I'll just say that I will mark myself with a 'could do better' comment..like when you were at school!

Anyway whilst I've been absent from here I have been getting a little bit of crafting done but mainly I have been working, along with my wonderful, techie other half, on the new Funky Hand CD. I am so excited about it and I can't wait to be able to share it with you but it's not ready yet..so I'll just have to wait.

Ians Grandma had a birthday earlier in the month, the grand old age of 96 bless her, and in true 'Anice' style I left making the card to the very last moment. I left it so late that basically it was put in the post with the glue barely dry (I am truely ashamed!) As last moment cards usually are, I used papers that I had lying around on my craft desk and they were papers from one of my latest Christmas download collections 'Tis the Season. A birthday card with Christmas papers? I hear you cry..well I'll let you decide if you think I got away with it but she loved the card and I think it proves that you can use the papers for more than just a Christmas word book card!

Oh, before I go don't forget that we are quickly heading towards the end of the month and your chance to enter into the September Challenge over on my Design Teams Challenge Blog Get Funky! On the 1st of October a new challenge will be launched so get your entries in now for this month for a chance to win £20.00 to spend on my website www.funkyhand.com.

New Xmas Word Books Launched

I'm pleased to let you all know that we have launched two new downloadable word book collections on our website www.funkyhand.com today. I have received so many requests from customers to create you some Christmas themed word books that I couldn't leave you wanting any longer!

The two collections are very different. Blue Christmas is well..blue and will give your word book creations a contemporary feel. 'Tis the Season on the other hand was created with more traditional Christmas colours..but it still has a bit of a Funky Hand twist to the paper designs so it's not too traditional!!

Go and take a look on the website on the galleries attached to each of the sales pages at the fabby books and cards my wonderful Design Team members have created and let them inspire you. There will be more added soon as I have to admit being so busy working on designs for the new CD-Rom that I haven't made my contribution to the galleries. Slapped hands Anice! Thank goodness my Design Gang are so on the ball..big kisses to them for saving my bacon!!

Oh and before I go don't forget to join in with this months challenge at Get Funky! we've had some fab entries so far. You have until the end of the month to join in and don't forget there's £20.00 worth of Funky Hand products for the winner each month.

Such a sweetie!

I don't get much time or have the space available to scrapbook traditionally so digital scrapping has always been a good option for me. I thought I would share a quick page that I made using a picture of Steffi, my god daughter, on a recent holiday that she took with her family. She is one little sweetie and this picture just sums her up!

I used papers from my Minty Madness download collection and added a few pink swirls to tie in her hat in the picture.

I'll be back very soon to tell you about the new Christmas word book downloads and when they will be released.

A little sneak peek..

I promised I had been working hard getting some new Christmas word book downloads ready for release in the very near future and now they are finished. So, it's my wonderful design team members that are now working hard getting great examples made to show you what can be done with the new downloads. Here's a couple of little sneaky peeks at what they have been doing..

I'm all excited about sharing the new collections with you but I have to be patient, not my strongest trait!! I'll be back very soon with more details of the new collections and when they will be released.

In the mean time, while you are waiting, why not pop over to our challenge Blog Get Funky! and join in with Septembers challenge which has been set by our fabby Ruth. Don't forget theres a prize of £20.00 worth of Funky Hand vouchers to be won..and I have new products to release, why not get them for free and have some fun at the same time?! See you over there!

A minty birthday card

It was my friend Vics birthday on Bank Holiday Monday so I got the chance to try out the new Sizzix die that I bought when I visited my parents a couple of weeks ago.

It is a jigsaw die, one i've had my eye on for a while but just hadn't got around to buying. I just printed two papers from my download collection Minty Madness and cut out the shapes and then swapped the pieces around alittle. I did orginally cut three papers but it looked better with two so expect to see a stripey jigsaw sometime in the future on another creation!!

The sentiment is a stamp that I purchased ages ago and haven't used before by an American company called Pink Paislee, it's from their Office Lingo stamp collection. I bought them from Craft Obsessions. I think I will be using it again as it fits for so many situations.

The topper is a stamp from one of my fav companies Stamping Bella. I just used chalks to colour the girls in as I wanted it to be quite neutral and gentle.

It's the usual madness here at Funky Hand Towers but with an added ingredient as Ian has taken the whole of September off to work with Funky Hand! We are working very hard on getting the new CD release ready..I'm sooooo excited about it as it's going to knock your socks off when you see it!

Also to prove that I do listen to what my customers say and ask for I will be bringing you details very soon of two new Word Book download releases..Christmas themed ones. I'll be back with more info very soon.

I've grown something!!

I know there will be some of you out there who will think 'so what?' when I tell you that I have got flowers on my orchid. It was an orchid that my friend Helen bought for me for my 40th Birthday last November. Once the flowers had died I thought I just had to throw it away..(as you may be discovering I'm not much of a gardener!) but I went on the internet just before I put it in the bin and found a website explaining that I could carry on growing it..so I started looking after the plant and now nine whole months later here is the result..

Flowers that I helped to grow!! I was so proud as I am the least garden/plant friendly person you will meet. I can kill any plant just by being near it!! I doubt this will be a new hobby but I wanted to share it with you as Ian hasn't been that impressed..surprisingly!!

I'm still working on commission cards for mags so once again no crafting that I can share at the moment but that will change soon as I've a birthday card to make for my friend Vic..if I can find time to fit it in between everything else.

The designing for the new CD is going well and I've almost finished some Christmas word book downloads that should be available in September (fingers crossed!)
If you were planning on joining in with the first challenge on the Funky Hand Design Team blog Get Funky! you only have until Monday 31st August to get your cards done. The August winner will be announced on Tuesday 1st September and a new challenge will be launched and it's a great one from our Ruth (TipTop)

I speak to you again very soon as I've something exciting to announce for the weekend....

What I was up to this weekend!

As you may not know I live in Newcastle so we don't visit London that often as it's a bit far away!! Anyway this weekend Ian treated me to a weekend there so I could visit a few exhibitions that are on at the moment about King Henry VIII. As well as crafting my other big interest is Tudor history and as it's 500 years this year since Henry was crowned King there has been some stuff going on around London. Anyway we visited the British Library, The Tower of London and had a day at Hampton Court..it was all very interesting. I have to admit I already knew all the historical facts, but Ian learned things he didn't know (though I'm sure he didn't care that much either!!) but it was great to be able to see the actual paintings and places that I had read about in the many, many books I own about the subject!!

So I haven't been crafting this weekend but I thought I'd share a few pictures and purchases I made whilst we were down south..

Funky Hand does need new offices but I'm not sure that this would be big enough really...

Proof that I am the creative one in Funky Hand rather than the techie..which is Ians side of things, as I try to understand how to work the tour guide around Hampton Court.

I also bought a complete set of Xmas decorations of Henry & his six wives that Ian hasn't stopped ridiculing but I loved all the bling on their outfits and they fed my crafty needs for the weekend. Henry is up top but here are the girls..

I know, I know, more than a little sad but I don't care!

On the actual Funky Hand work front I am getting along nicely designing new papers for the next CD release and as so many of you have contacted me and asked.. I am starting work on a couple of Christmas themed word book download collections so keep your eyes on the website for their release in the near future. Talking of near future we are now over half way through August which means if you want to join in on our first monthly challenge over at the Get Funky! Challenge blog you have to start thinking about getting those cards posted on your blogs. We have had loads of wonderful entries so far but there is plenty of space for more. Don't forget a £20.00 voucher to spend on www.funkyhand.com is up for grabs so don't miss out!!

Speak again very soon.
