Here I am again nearly a week between blog posts..really not good enough Anice. I'm not going to make excuses that I've been working on new products and researching some really interesting new stuff to come from us and other stash to be added to our website to fire up your crafty mojos. As that just wouldn't be excuse enough now would it.. (wink!)
Right less talking and more crafting I think. Last month I had to make two birthday cards for two Moms..mine and Ians. They are both very different sorts of ladies, both wonderful in their own way but, with very different tastes and styles. So, I thought it might be fun to use the same digital stamp on each of their cards but make cards to match them. So, here are the cards..
Both cards have the same birthday cake digital image on from my craft CD Craft The Year Away. But they have been coloured in very different colours and put onto different base cards, and created using different backing papers but from the same Papercraft Factory CD ROM Happy Happy Birthday.
The first card was for Ians Mum, I used pale pinks and lemon Promarkers to colour the digital image and then using backing papers from the Happy Happy Birthday CD the Birthday Girl collection. The card I think, though simple is delicate and understated.
The second card was for my Mom. My Mom likes dramatic colours so I used much darker Promarkers to colour the digital stamp and added a cheeky sentiment to it! I also used a kraft base card and then much darker and more intensely coloured backing papers from Happy Happy Birthday using the How Old collection. A bit of doodling also added a fun finish to the card.
I thought it was interesting that just changing the colours that an image is coloured in and the backing papers and base cards used could make two cards so different but with really the same idea and use.
As I remember, both Mothers liked their cards..thankfully I put them in the right envelopes and wrote on the right addresses. I don't think they would have worked the other way around!!
Speak again very soon

ReplyDeleteThey are fabulous! It just goes to show, with a bit of creativity you can create cards personalised to the tastes of individuals even with just a few basics. I love the colours on the second one, but either would be great to receive.
