Funky Hand in print!

My copy of Crafts Beautiful magazine arrived yesterday with my contribution to their Easy Celebration cards give away booklet. I thought I'd share it with you.

I made a Birthday card with papers from the Rock Star collection from my CD Now thats Funky. It's always fun seeing things you have made in print! The swirls on the card are Queen and Co felt Fusion, which are reasonably tricky to stick down but give fab texture to your creation.

Daring Card Makers Challenge

Well, when I made this baby card yesterday I didn't think I would get lucky and be able to tie it in with this weeks Daring Card Makers challenge. One of Ians oldest friends had her first baby a couple of days ago so I made this card ready to get it to her for when she arrives home with her new little bundle of joy!

The Daring Card Makers dare this week is from Sue:

For my dare this week I would like you to make a card that incorporates beads somewhere in the design…..it’s as easy as that!
It can be one bead, lots of beads, big beads, and small beads, whatever you like as long as there’s at least one on your card somewhere.

The beads on my card are small pearl beads in the wire curls attaching the button to the card. The papers I used are from the Baby Collection on my CD V Funky. I cut the Baby wording out using Photoshop and printed the mottled pink paper design directly onto white card to make the base card. The image is not that great as the light here wasn't great for taking photos. There are also some words on the card in white all mixed up Doodlebug rub ons that say Hello (BABY) Daisy.. that's the little girls name!!

Life here at Funky Hand Towers doesn't get any quieter so I am certainly looking forward to this weekend when I am taking a trip to see my parents..I haven't seen then since February when we in Birmingham for the Stitches Trade Exhibition! I can't believe the time has gone by so fast. It will be nice to be looked after by my Mom and be away from this computer for at least a little while..then again I will be taking the laptop with me because I can't stay away for too long!!

Right fun over..I had best get back to work. If you can believe it I am having to think about Christmas already..arrggg it's only May, but I was informed yesterday that Christmas starts in August and I need to be prepared. How can I get inspired for Winter themed papers when the sun has only just started shining here in Newcastle for this year!!

Just a quickie today!

I'm always busy but lately I've been rushed off my feet! When you're really up against it all you need is to be reminded of what needs to be done. 'Don't forget we need milk' 'Can you clean the bathroom today?' 'I've brought up the vacuum can you do the bedrooms?' 'Remember it's my Dads birthday can you make a card?' The problem with working from home is that you are always at work AND always at home so both lives call to you for things to be done at the same time!!

I've made a birthday card so far today for Ian's Dad:

I'm afraid I am still in my black base card phase..think I will be until it runs out (not too long now!) The paper pieces are all from my CD Now thats Funky and ribbon is from Ribbon Oasis my new favourite haunt when I should be working!! The lettering are all mixed up rub ons by Doodlebug that I can't leave alone! I got lucky earlier in the week and won five packets on Ebay for a fabby price so now I have lots of different colours too!! The actual inspiration for the card design came from Di Hickmans blog something I saw on there ages ago that just stuck.

Right what's next.. oh, best get the Vacuuming done before I choke on all the dust in here!!

I never seem to have time to get everything done!

I'm sure that's a statement that all of you can relate to. Lately I have been working long hours and in the dead of night look back on my day and still think I haven't got much done off my, very long, 'to do' list!

At least I achieved a couple of important things yesterday, it's my friend Corrina's little girls birthday tomorrow. She's going to be two. I can't believe how quickly the time is going by! I made a card for her yesterday and combined it with a tutorial for a crafters blog I have been invited to join. Two in one! a card I needed and a tutorial as I went along for creating the chipboard element.. here's the card that I made:

The papers are from my new download Shabby Saturday. If you are interested in my technique for adding papers to bare chipboard then you can read my tutorial blog post here.. http://blog.craftsforum.co.uk/

What have I got on my list today? Well I have a number of orders to process from over the weekend and I haven't bought a birthday present to go with the card yet! What do you buy for a two year old these days? I'm afraid I'm totally out of the loop when it comes to kids. I think a trip to Toys are Us is in order and as long as it has something to do with 'In the Night Garden' (which on the couple of occasions I have watched with her freaked me out!!) she'll be happy..fingers crossed!!

Other than that I have to get on with designing for my new CD, I'd promised myself that I would have all the designing done by June ready to hand it over for the technical stuff and production...oh dear another promise it looks like I will be breaking!! ho hum!!

Sorry I've been away for a while!

I have been meaning to post here all week and everytime I was about to something else had to be done! Finally I have found time to catch up with you all!

Last week was a bit of a blur really with the mad rush to get everything ready for my appearance on Ideal World on Friday and me being rather ill the first part of the week. Thankfully by Thursday my poor tongue had started to calm down and not be quiet so swollen so I was able to speak normally on the show on Friday morning. Unfortunately I didn't get to demonstrate many of the cards I had prepared, there were so many other things on the show along with me I didn't get too much time. Due to that I thought I would share a few of the cards that I had made here just so I don't feel that I wasted my time last week when I felt poorly!!

This is the card I actually got to demo, it's made with papers from Now thats Funky.

This one is also from Now that's Funky, with a bit of doodling and my new favourite Doodlebug all mixed up rub on letters.

This last one was made with papers printed from V Funky. The heart has been embossed using a cuttlebug embossing folder and hand cut..that's why it's a bit lopsided but I liked it like that!

This last weekend Ian has worked hard and got my newest download collection 'Shabby Saturday' onto the website, take a look at the fab cards that my design team created with it on the gallery, I'm so lucky to have such a talented collection of card makers working with me.

I have been tagged by Jozza but I haven't had time to get my answers together yet..so I will be back later if I get a chance..though I don't think my answers will be as witty as hers were!!

Wow what a week!

Sorry I haven't been around here much this week..over the weekend I was rather ill, you may already know the sad state of my health having being diagnosed with MS a couple of years ago but..I also have the joy of being Epileptic as well. I have to admit that I just take my drugs and forget about it as I hardly ever have seizures, they are always in my sleep and the last ones were over a year ago.. well until last weekend that is. I unfortunately had two seizures in twelve hours which has left me rather brain fried and frazzled to say the least. I have bitten my tongue good and proper, so badly that I thought I might have to cancel my live appearance on Ideal World tomorrow..but I'm feeling much better now so it's all still going ahead! Just be kind to me if I forget what I am saying mid sentence..I've been like it all week!!

So you can still catch me tomorrow on Ideal World and Create and Craft at 11am, I will be making cards with three of my CDs, Now that's Funky, V Funky and Funky Seasons. The most exciting things are that I will be able to share the fantastic card samples that my new design team members have created. They are amazing!! I am going to be so proud to show them off tomorrow, the girls have really done themselves and me proud!!

Wish me luck on the boring journey down to Peterborough from Newcastle this evening and.. the new download 'Shabby Saturday' will be launched on the website for sale this coming weekend. Sorry for the delay..I'm afraid my ill health has had quiet an effect here at Funky Hand Towers this week, hopefully we will be getting back to normal service soon! To give you a little bit more of an idea what you can expect from the download here are a few cards that the design team have pulled together using papers from it:

Right off to check the last of my demos..I hope you can join me tomorrow at 11am, I need all the support I can get!!

A sneak peek of my new download collection!!

I've been working away on a new download called Shabby Saturday and it's finally finished! I'm hoping to share it with my fab design team in the next couple of days and then it will be available for sale on the website. I made a quick card using a couple of the extras available on it and my current favourite, black card. I thought I would share it with you to give a little hint of what you can expect from the collection.

And heres a few images of some of the papers...

I am up to my eyes at the moment trying to create demonstrations for my live Ideal World show next Friday. Yesterday I cleaned up my craftroom which was beginning to look like a bomb had gone off in there and organised the wonderful cards that I have received from my design team. I can't wait to share the design team creations with you on my website soon, they are amazing!! I am so lucky to be working with such a creative gang of crafters!! After the big clean up I can now actually get to my desk so I think this afternoon I should be able to start creating..as long as my crafty mojo wants to co operate of course!!
